Steve Irons MP - Federal Member for Swan

Federal Member for Swan

Biography

Steve Irons, as the Federal Member for Swan, is fully committed to helping local people and families, and ready to build on the work he has already started within the community.

Steve grew up in a large family. His father was the local church minister and his mother a social worker at the hospital. His parents always instilled in Steve that investing in people from all walks of life was the key to building a strong local community.

A talented young footballer and now an experienced coach, Steve believes that teamwork is the key to success on any of life’s playing fields. During Steve’s time with East Perth Football Club, he learned that you only get back from life what you put into it. Now, as Director of Junior Development at Perth Football Club, Steve is passing on this invaluable lesson to our future generations.

Steve Irons wants to bring the people of Swan together as a team – so as one, strong community we can help ensure that people feel safe in their homes, that economic prosperity is locked-in for our small businesses, and that our young families can plan for the future with confidence.

With 25 years experience in small business, Steve Irons understands the hard work that is required in order to succeed. Steve completed an Australian Apprenticeship after high school and, working his way up, later became general manager of a national air-conditioning business. There, he achieved record sales and went on to become the major shareholder and owner of the business.

However, it is his young son Jarrad who Steve sees as his proudest achievement. The two are more than just father and son, they are great mates. Steve has instilled the same strong values in Jarrad, equipping him with the skills to make the right decisions, and the tough choices, as he faces life’s many challenges.

As a family man, Steve shares the Liberal Party’s commitment to instilling mainstream family values in our schools. Steve strongly believes that being a parent is the most important commitment that a person can make.

As the Federal Member for Swan, Steve is determined to build on his strong commitment to the local community. Steve will ensure that our local schools receive important funding, that our roads are safe, that anti-crime initiatives are undertaken, and that our beautiful parklands and environmentally-sensitive areas are protected.
