I oppose the Federal Government’s policy to introduce a $250 compulsory tax on students at Curtin University.

There are over 10,000 students in the local area who will suffer from this tax.

We need to make it is easier, not more difficult for people from all backgrounds to attend University.

I have been meeting students at Curtin University and will continue to oppose this tax.

Steve, thankyou for standing up for uni students - we really need people like you to continue fighting this poll tax on all students. It is unfair to slug us with a huge fee regardless of our ability to pay or even use the services.

Hi Steve,
I'm a 4th year psychology student doing honours. My workload is really heavy and I rarely have any time to enjoy the social side of uni. Why should I have to pay for other peoples' parties and subsidise their alcohol?
Thanks for opposing this unfair tax on students.

Hi Steve,

Compulsory student contributions are an important means to fund essential student services - sporting facilities, support for disadvantaged students, advocacy etc. I've been trhough Uni and have always considered these contributions pretty good value for money. Being able to opt out of uni contributions is akin to being able to opt out of paying local government rates or income tax!

Hi Steve,
Thank you for standing up against this unfair tax on students. We should be able to choose what organisations we are a member of and how we spend our money. Uni life is hard enough as it is without having to pay another tax. Please keep fighting for fairness on campus!

Steve, thank you so much for standing up for student's rights! I have so many friends with classes at odd times, who also have jobs which mean they are never on campus to use any of the services they would be forced to pay for. Students already pay huge uni costs for over crowded classes! Thanks for all you hard work on this issue!
