A local community group has contacted me about the high number of mosquitoes in Waterford at the moment.

The group is seeking feedback on the following questions:

1) Do you believe that the current Mosquito management Plan that the City of South Perth Council has implemented is effective?

2) Do you believe the City of South Perth Council should perform fogging when this is necessary to reduce mosquito numbers in Waterford and surrounding river foreshores?

Click here to have your say on this issue and I will provide your feedback to the local community group.

Do whatever it takes to get rid of these stinking insects. My small daughter is allergic to the bites and comes up in massive welts that take forever to go down and scar if scratched.A lot of English people live in this area and I have seen some shocking skin infections due to their reaction from the bites. No matter how hard you try it is not possible for complete prtection at times the mossie even manage to get inside the house.
Please keep fogging!!!

One year on, same denials from the City. Residents expect the city to conduct effective mozzie control in their area which includes a larvicide baiting and the occassional fogging when numbers spike. We would prefer no fogging due to its adverse effects on other species, but rely on it as a last resort measure.

Instead we have continually high numbers, well above the threshold suggesting in the CIty's mozzie management plan, loooong delays before fogging (seems the city has to prove high numbers through trapping, then find an evening without a sea breeze) and a Mayor who, judging by his public statements on the issue, has not yet recognised there is a problem.

Until the city accepts a problem, it will not commence looking for a solution.
